Bill Dvorak and Friends of Browns Canyon Visit the White House
Nope, we’re not done talking about Browns Canyon NATIONAL MONUMENT!!! It was already official, with the Presidential announcement made in Chicago, but now it is even more official, since Bill Dvorak and Friends of Browns Canyon went to the White House to meet with the president.
Dvorak meets President Obama
In celebration of Browns Canyon National Monument status, Dvorak Expedition’s very own Bill Dvorak, along with Executive director of Friends of Browns Canyon Keith Baker proudly traveled to the White House to meet with President Obama in the Oval Office. And as I am writing this, I still can’t believe that it actually happened. Sometimes it still seems like a dream. When you’ve worked on something for 23 years like Bill has, and you finally succeed, it takes a moment to sink in.
“It’s really cool to be part of the official part of that. There’s a lot of satisfaction there to finally get it done.” Dvorak said to the Chaffey County Times
The meeting with the President may have been over too quickly, but the impact was huge and will be with us forever. And thanks to the President, Browns Canyon will also be with the rest of us for ever and ever, letting generations to come experience this incredible backcountry, wildlife and of course, the Arkansas river.

At Dvorak Expeditions, we’ve built a life on the rivers of the Southwestern United States, and helping to protect them is all part of a day’s work. Come and join us for Colorado river adventures and see what all the fuss is about.
