Low Flowing Rivers Bring High Rafting Expectations

 In Whitewater Blogged

We’ve already talked a bit about how 2015 is shaping up to be one heck of river rafting season. Despite a little less water in a few places, we’re hoping that this will bring new opportunities for families and children to experience rivers that they wouldn’t normally hit.  A little less water will open up new rafting experiences for everyone.

More water doesn’t always mean better rafting

The 2015 white water rafting season is perfect for families with kids. Our guides will know just which section of the river to take you, depending on your skill level.

What we are really hoping for is medium flow on the rivers, and the 2015 white water rafting season looks to be perfect. For the adrenaline seekers, you may think that lower water is taking away your chances of seeing some rip roaring rapids. Not true. In fact, lower water gives families a chance to check out different sections of the river that our guides normally steer clear of because they are a little too crazy for the average amateur rafter. Too much water can sometimes make the rapids wash out and become un-raftable, so a little less water is not a bad thing. Sometimes high water can completely wash out the rapids, only to make them re-appear again as the water level drops. We’ve been guiding people down the rivers for a long time, and our guides will know exactly where to take you depending on the level of water and the type of white water action you are hoping for.

Still plenty of white water action for thrill seeking river runners

This low to medium water will make the river boring, think again. There’s still plenty of bang for your buck and with the lower flow the waters will stay warmer making it much more fun to play in. Even with a little less water, there still won’t be a dry seat in the raft. Everyone will get wet and our guides will still find heart-pumping rapids to keep the adrenaline flowing.

Dvorak kayaking expeditions

2015 white water rafting and kayaking season still has plenty of Class IV and V rapids to satisfy thrill seeking river runners.

And for those of you who still want the adrenaline rush of a Class IV or V, the Arkansas River is running at just under 100%, so if it’s action you are looking for, the deafening roar of the white water is still available for the experienced paddler.
