Situated in the heart of the Rockies, the Arkansas River threads its way through a whitewater paradise in the center of Colorado. From the headwaters at Leadville, Colorado 11,000 ft. you will run the Numbers 1-10 rapids which is truly home to world class challenges of class IV rapids – running solid thrills from top to bottom. Minimum age is 18 and in good health with a good knowledge of paddling skills is a must.

This section is home to world class kayak competitions. Runnable only at certain water levels and paddlers MUST be at least 18 years. Your endurance and paddle experience is tested here. An incredible section with Pine forest lining the river banks and the peaks of the Collegiate Mountains tower over 14,000 feet above the river corridor. Early meeting required for this trip at our Nathrop office (See Map) 10 miles south of Buena Vista on Highway 285.

The Arkansas River – Browns Canyon’s 36 Miles is the most popular stretch of whitewater in the country. Camp on the banks of the granite canyon while guides will prepare meals. Relax, try your hand at fishing or fireside chat while the evening comes on. Wildlife will be coming down for a drink of the clear waters in the canyon. Meals lunch through lunch.
